Incepted in the year 1920, ISWP, was set by Sir Bahadur Inder Singha and became India’s first Wire Drawing Plant. But it was only in 1935 that ISWPL was incorporated as a company under the Companies Act, 1913.
The year 1991 saw a major development for the Company, when Jamshedpur Engineering and Machine Manufacturing Company (JEMCO) merged with ISWP. Furthermore, ISWPL became a subsidiary of Tata Steel Ltd in the year 2003, and has a registered office in Kolkata, West Bengal.
ISWPL started from scratch, stabilizing its production and strengthening its plant and machinery. Currently is spread over 300 acres, comprising of the Plant and a township. The Company boasts of a vast infrastructure with more than 800 houses, a school with more than 2500 children, a 20-bed hospital, Sport Complex and Water Purification Plant.
